Lord of the... Thing, you know, round whatsit.
Ah, one of the most hilarious sites I've been sent to for what feels like A Very Long Time. Lord of the... Thing, you know, round whatsit. I've only downloaded a couple of the movie files, the Typical Day in the Spider Infested Forest of Mirkwood being the most worthwhile. But the site is geocities hosted, and so keeps running out of bandwidth and being unavailable. Be patient, it's more than worth it.
I spent today... rewatching Fellowship in an attempt to stop myself from moping about my lack of the Two Towers dvd. I will be strong. I will be Strong. I will not buy, I will not buy. I'll buy it on vhs when it gets around to be ex-rental. But I will not buy the dvd. I need a copy on vhs, and I want the extended dvd come october/november. I will be Strong, and not buy this puny excuse for malicious temptation which exists for the pure as fairy-liquid-white-shade-of-snow reason of simultaneously sending me so far around the bend that I might actually end up being considered sane again, and extorting unwarranted quantities of money from me, of which I am not actually in possession. But don't let that stop me.
Ok. Rant over. You can read safely again now. Just don't get me started on the domestic front and we'll be fine.
I don't know how this will show up, but I thought it was somewhat amusing. (stolen from eviltwin, who stole it from kaydee falls.) Anyone know what caulrophobia is? Dictionary.com doesn't seem to be able to tell me. Unless this is one of these joke things that seem to spent their whole time going over my head.
Ah, and you remember when I said I wasn't going to be reading any more fic that just got sent to me on mailing lists? Well, um, I lied. Someone sent me an update notification on a LotR/Harry Potter crossover. It'll be awful. I know it will be. These things are always awful. So why the hell am I in the middle of reading it? It's only bloody novel length as well. I'll be stuck reading something badly written and unoriginal for the next 36 hours or so. (Ok, that's possibly an unfair judgement, I've only read the first 500 words or so.) If only this very daydream hadn't been going through my head earlier this morning, maybe, just maybe I'd have been able to walk away. I'm so predictable.
So this daydream. Basically, Dumbledore is Gandalf/Mithrandir/Olorin. But nobody really knows this, or cares about it. Hogwarts is being used as some kind of mission base, as happens in all harry potter fanfics, and our heroes are in 6th or 7th year. One day, all the spiders suddenly flee the Forbidden Forest, the gang goes to find... actually I've decided not to tell you all this. It's too lame for words. There's a reason I'm not a writer. There're many reasons why I'm not a writer. Fantasy-style storylines based on gimmicks are just a part of it.
Got a lot more to say. Entry's a bit too long already, I'll leave it for next time.

As long as I get to borrow the DVDs before you head off to university, that is...

"No, not listening, not listening."
7 times at the cinema must surely be enough to keep me going just a little bit longer.
Posted by: Missiedith at August 26, 2003 7:42 PMi'm not sure there's such a thing as caulrophobia, unless they're trying to make up a word for fear of cauldrons, but then if i were doing that i'd definitely have the d in there.
coulrophobia, however, is the fear of clowns. but there's nothing to be afraid of -- there's an easy way to kill them, and the entire circus: go for the juggler. :)
Posted by: dvd at August 27, 2003 6:58 PMOohhhh, that is so bad.
Fear of cauldrons sounds far more amusing, especially as I could then be clobbering unspecified victim (not "Cathy-if-she-doesn't-shut-up-about-TTT" at all, oh no) with a cauldron.

Posted by: Missiedith at August 27, 2003 8:14 PMcaulrophobia is actually a fear of clowns. Not so sure that's flattering, if you beat a person so hard until they're afraid of clowns, what does that make you?
Posted by: Angel at December 14, 2003 3:57 AMAHHHHH I have Coulrophobia. Thanks to you I just recently found out what the morbid fear of clowns is called!!! Fucking clowns with their masks to cover the evil that lurks behind those painted smiles....bastards Type in 555 if clowns freak you out too or if they give you the urge to open up a can of whoop ass! We'll take all those jackasses down together ONE by ONE!
