Better Than Thermal Hiking Socks
Have discovered wonderful way to keep feet warm at night. Seeing as I am trying to get used to using my laptop in preparation for being heartbreakingly separated from my desktop in less than a week, I am trying to write my fic on this tiny keyboard at ungodly hours of the night/morning as befits a slash fanfic writer. I think I might have to eventually cut my nails to this purpose, as I'm really quite apalled by my current typo rate. My feet come into the equation because I have discovered that balancing the dear overheating machine upon them is actually a very comfortable way to work. Or to be sidetracked by solitaire and not work. Either way, this is now the adopted position.
I was previously working lying on my belly in bed, but I've been feeling slightly edgy about this more recently, as I managed to stab myself upon the lost embroidery needle protruding from my mattress. Although this could just mean I should stop doing cross-stitch in bed. It really is very impractical. I've lost track of the times I've lost the needle. Most of the time I never manage to find it again, which, considering recent painful events, I am now beginning to see as a positive thing. But losing the needle invariably leads to me throwing the whole kit in the back of the cupboard and swearing to never bother with it ever again. Of course, I do have a whole box of needles, but none of them are the ones with conveniently large eyes that mean I would be able to thread them sometime this decade. My house just seems to eat them up, almost as voraciously as it eats up pencil sharpeners. I bought a new pencil sharpener last thursday, and am clinging to it. Maybe if I can get it out the house when I move it'll decide to stick around for a while.
I worked out what model my laptop is, after all the fuss I had with it last week. It's amazing what opening it up to use it will tell you. It's written right beneath the screen on the right-hand side, so I can now cherish the knowledge that I am in possession of a Toshiba Portégé. All I have to do now is find an external dvd drive to go with it. And how hard can that be...?
Also, I just have to sneak in a link to the music video Everything I Know About Harry Potter I Learned from the Movies from The Shrieking Shack. Evil never looked so freakin' good.
Posted by Missiedith at September 16, 2003 6:45 PMHave you seen this before? It's a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 66123, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
