First Lectures

First lectures today. Actually, I'm sitting in one at the moment. Feels a bit pointless really, as I only have to be in this one for this first week in order to collect my username and password for the math department computers... Except, of course, Cardiff university manages to possess the inter-departmental communication and organisational skills of a group of more than 3 male elephants that got so lost they ended up in the Antarctic. Meaning that all the joint honours students that only had to come this once aren't actuallyy on the list giving the sought after log-in information. At least I now know the computers have ws_ftp in the math department as well as the computer department. (It was on the same menu as the email program being demonstrated to us.)

Oh Dear Lord. I'm currently recieving a detailed lesson on how to add the Bob The Builder website to my favourites.

In contrast to my computing lectures, my math ones have actually been quite interesting so far. Apart from the one I went to at 9 this morning which I apparently shouldn't have been at, but dragged myself out of bed for due to a weird version of my timetable that was distributed to me due to the fact that... well, inter-departmental organisational skills of a bunch of male elephants lost in Antarctica that accidentally sunk the boat by sticking a tusk through the hull because they forgot their own gender. Anyway, I'm actually quite gleeful that I don't have to go to any more Modelling lectures.

It might have been a bit unfair of me to be so thoroughly bored with the computing lecture. I can't imagine that it would have anything to do with the fact that we ended up listening to about an hours worth of someone telling us about the history of computers. More accurately, the history of computers before anyone actually made a computer. I used the time constructively. I now have a detailed character doodle for the NaNoWriMo project. I should probably come up with a storyline sometime. Personally I'd rather just write description stuff. Maybe it'll work itself out.

Anyway, I've just typed this up from the bright green ink scrawl that I wrote in that daft lecture. I'm somewhat surprised I haven't fused any synapses with the strain of trying to read my own handwriting.
