Love, Lust And Loathing
So whilst I'm fast coming to the conclusion that Modelling may not quite be for me, I am finding the lectures hilarious. It occurred to me today whilst hearing more on the Fibonacci sequence that although the bunny rabbits got to live forever, they were, in fact, incredibly incestuous bunny rabbits. Then I decided I didn't want to think about that any more. Then I heard the word "fox".
My heart froze. Apparently now was the time for Models With More Than One Variable.
Fortunately, for both my peace of mind and that of the bunny rabbits, a different example was given. That of Love, Lust And Loathing. Actually, I really think my peace of mind would have been better off with the slaughtered bunny rabbits. You'll see what I mean.
To quote from my notes (slightly edited, edited meaning equations replaced with snide comments):
Take a model of inter-personal dynamics.
What? Blah much?
Suppose we have two individuals, X and Y. Suppose they record each day their affection for the other on a scale of -&infin to +&infin.

"I hate you!" "I hate you more!" "No you don't, I hate you 10 times more than you could ever hate me." "I hate you to infinity, so there!" "Well I hate you to infinity plus 1!"...
Can we model the changes with time?
Consider person X. Let us suppose that without stimulas X's affection will decay.
ie X is a mean bastard who'd be crap at a long-distance relationship
Now suppose Y behaves differently and reacts to X's affection in the opposite direction (unrequited love).
ie Y is a messed up headcase that thrives on emotional pain. Probably the art type.
...
There follows equations...
...
Is it wrong to want to slash university math notes? I mean, this would be perfect for harry/draco! Or Viggorli, or, or...
*sigh*
I really am going to do this. At some point in the near future I am going to write a slash fic based entirely on the mathematics of modelling.
Posted by Missiedith at October 24, 2003 11:50 AMI know I'm ill, but this post made me laugh so much it hurts my throat. And yet I have a strange urge to say thank you for writing it ;-)
